At Occupy Berkeley, Beat Poets Has New Meaning
I realize a lot of you have probably already read Robert Hass’s account of what happened when he and his wife (Brenda Hillman) joined the protestors at the Occupy movement on the UC Berkeley campus, but I just stumbled across it today.
What the fuck.
UNBELIEVABLE AND INFURIATING.
Goddammit.

The WTF moment for me is that to be considered as having “joined” is simply to be nearby. At no point does Hass indicate that they were actually protesting. Journalists, observers, & passers-by all receive the same violent treatment as protestors.
