“Nothing that has meaning is easy. ‘Easy’ doesn’t enter into grown-up life.” ― Michael Caine (via nevver)

Films today show only a dream world and have lost touch with the way people really are…In this country, people die at 21. They die emotionally at 21, maybe younger…My responsibility as an artist is to help people get past 21… The films are a roadmap through emotional and intellectual terrain that provides a solution on how to save pain.

RIP Ben Gazzara (1930-2012).
Gazzara, with Peter Falk and John Cassavetes. They do not make them like this anymore. If someone could ask “they” to start making them like this again, that would be great. If there’s a petition I should sign, just let me know.

And then there’s Woody…
Woody Allen was born December 1, 1935 - 76 today, and still playing the clarinet!
“In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people’s home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch and a party on your first day. You work for 40 years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, then you are ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you become a kid, you play. You have no responsibilities, you become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your last 9 months floating in luxurious spa-like conditions with central heating and room service on tap, larger quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as an orgasm!” ― Woody Allen
He figured it out.

The odd thing about this life is always that you spend half your time trying to get people to listen to you and the rest of the time trying to get them to leave you the fuck alone.
